Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Couch to Park app, developed and maintained by Toby Hansen. In this policy, “Couch to Park,” “the app,” “we,” and “us” refer to the Couch to Park service and its developer.

Couch to Park is designed without advertising, third-party analytics, a developer-operated account system, or a custom backend. Most information stays on your device. Some profile and achievement information can sync through your private Apple iCloud account, and workout information can be saved to Apple Health when you give permission.

Information the app processes

Training profile

The app processes your selected walking or running goal, preferred training days, optional trip or target date, onboarding status, profile creation and update dates, and a randomly generated internal identifier. This information personalizes your training plan and schedule.

Workouts, fitness, and progress

The app may process workout type and program position, start and completion times, duration, distance, step count, active energy burned, average or current heart rate supplied by Apple Watch, workout identifiers, achievement eligibility, and progress. This information provides workout guidance, summaries, pace, progress, and achievements.

Preferences and reminders

The app stores settings such as trainer voice, vibration, halfway alerts, distance units, reminder status and time, whether Health access has been explained, and achievement catalog state. Training reminders are scheduled locally on your device rather than through a remote push-notification service.

Location and motion

During an active workout, the iPhone app may request precise location while the app is in use and may continue receiving location updates in the background. Location samples are used temporarily to calculate distance and pace. The app does not intentionally save your route or individual coordinates; it stores only the resulting aggregate workout distance.

The app uses Core Motion and the iPhone pedometer to count steps during a workout. Aggregate step counts may be stored with your workout history.

Apple Health and Apple Watch

With your permission, the iPhone app may write workouts and walking or running distance to Apple Health. The Apple Watch app may read heart rate, walking or running distance, step count, and active energy, and may write completed workouts.

Health information is used only for workout tracking, summaries, and progress. It is not used for advertising or marketing, sold, or shared with data brokers. You can change Health permissions and manage Health records through Apple Health and system settings.

Where information is stored

• On your device: detailed workout history, workout metrics, settings, preferences, and aggregate distance, steps, energy, and heart-rate information attached to completed workouts.
• In your private iCloud account: training profile information, goal and schedule selections, optional trip date, and earned achievement or pin records, synchronized through Couch to Park’s private CloudKit container.
• In Apple Health: completed workouts and walking or running distance when you grant permission.

Detailed workout history is not synchronized through Couch to Park’s CloudKit configuration.

Subscriptions and purchases

Quarterly and yearly premium subscriptions, purchase restoration, entitlement status, and offer-code redemption are handled by Apple through StoreKit. The app receives transaction information needed to determine whether premium access is active. We do not directly receive or process your payment-card information. You can manage subscriptions through your Apple account.

Sharing and external services

Couch to Park has no advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, crash-reporting service, social-media tracking, App Tracking Transparency identifier use, custom developer backend, or custom user-account system. We do not sell personal information or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

The app uses Apple services including HealthKit, iCloud and CloudKit, StoreKit, Core Location, Core Motion, local notifications, and iPhone–Apple Watch workout communication. Apple processes information used by those services under your Apple account settings and Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.

Your choices and deletion

You can decline or revoke location, motion, notification, and Health permissions through system settings. Some workout features may be reduced when a required permission is unavailable.

You can manage or delete Health records through Apple Health, manage subscriptions through your Apple account, and remove app-local information by using Reset Everything or deleting the app.

Retention

Local information remains until you reset the app, delete individual information where the app allows it, or remove the app. Information in Apple Health and your private iCloud account remains according to your actions, settings, and Apple’s services.

If you email support, you voluntarily provide your email address and message contents. We use that information to respond and retain it only as reasonably needed to handle the support request and related records.

Children

Couch to Park is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Minors should use the app with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through a support request, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Security and international use

We limit the app’s data handling and rely on Apple’s platform protections for information stored on your device, in Apple Health, and in your private iCloud account. No method of storage is completely secure.

If you use the app outside the United States, Apple may process information in locations described by Apple’s services and policies. Couch to Park does not operate its own servers for app data.

Website privacy

This website does not use analytics, advertising trackers, forms, or cookies set by Couch to Park. Hosting and network providers may process basic technical request information as needed to deliver and secure the website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The updated version will appear here with a revised effective date.
